PERMAFROST THICKNESS (if known, m) Unknown, more than 9 meters, active layer about 5 m this summer. Temperatures are decreasing with depth, so the coldest stable temperatures (- 0.75 ºC is found at 14 m depth). Therefore any extrapolation of  permafrost depth is impossible
